Ammonite / Freestanding - Brown 7". Extinct Class - The word Ammonite is derived from the name of the Greek God "Ammon", that appeared with rams horns on his head. Members of the phylum Celphalopod, these are the distant ancestors of the chambered nautilus. The animal that lived in this shell looked something like a Squid or an Octopus, with tentacles for grasping its food and moving around the ocean floor. Some Ammonites from Morocco measured up to 6 feet across in size when discovered. Shipping weight 4 lbs. Item photographed is representative specimen.
