Prehistoric Fossil. Extinct Class - Ammonite 13" x 11" with Display Stand. The word Ammonite is derived from the name of the Greek God "Ammon" that appeared with rams horns on his head. Members of the phylum Cephalopod, these are the distant ancestors of the chambered nautilus. The animal that lived in these shells looked something like a Squid or an Octopus, with tentacles for grasping its food and moving around the ocean floor. Some Ammonites from Morocco have measured up to 6 feet across in size when discovered. Price includes: Large Black Metal Display Stand. Shipping weight 25 lbs.
